On April 9, 2015 a delegation from Armenia led by the RA National Assembly deputy, chairman of the RA YVU Department, Lieutenant-General Manvel Grigoryan, made a short stop in Tbilisi on the way to Jerusalem to place a khachkar (cross-stone) in dedicatation of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The delegation including the RA National Assembly deputy, Lieutenant-General Sedrak Saroyan and the governor of the Syunik region, Suren Khachatryan, accompanied by  the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of RA to Georgia, Yuri Vardanyan, visited the Saint Etchmiadzin Church and the Hayartun Educational, Cultural and Youth Center in Avlabari.

The Primate of the Diocese, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan and the clergy and Stuff welcomed all the delegates. The Director of the Hayartun Center, Levon Chidilyan, spoke about the scheduled events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide 100th Anniversary Commemoration. The guests had a chance to see the photography exhibition “Heirs of the Armenian Genocide Survivors”. “Movses Khorenatsi” Preschool children performed the national anthem of the Republic of Armenia.

Lieutenant-General Manvel Grigoryan thanked the employees of the Diocese for giving children an Armenian education and for preserving spiritual, historical and cultural values.

The delegation lit candles and prayed in the church. The Primate of the Diocese blessed their pilgrimage and wished them good luck. The guests paid homage at the tomb of the great Armenian benefactor Alexander Mantashev in the church courtyard and visited Khojivank pantheon of Armenian writers and public figures.
